Everything in life is luck | Donald Trump

Today's quote is:

"Everything in life is luck." — Donald Trump

At first glance, this quote might make you want to throw your hands up and blame the universe for all your problems—or, if you're feeling lucky, thank the stars for your wins. But is life really just a cosmic lottery where some people get dealt aces and others are stuck with a two and a seven? Not quite.

Luck does play a role in life. No one picks where they're born, their genetic makeup, or what economy they step into as adults. Some people are born into wealth, others into struggle. Some are at the right place at the right time, while others miss golden opportunities by minutes. Luck, in that sense, is real. But here’s where people get it twisted: luck alone doesn’t build success—action does.

Think about poker. The best players know luck influences the cards they’re dealt, but the real game is in how they play those cards. A skilled player can turn a bad hand into a winning strategy, while a clueless player can squander a royal flush. Life is the same way. Yes, you need some fortune, but without effort, intelligence, and persistence, luck is just wasted potential.

Take Hollywood stars, for example. Sure, some get their break by being discovered at a coffee shop, but plenty work dead-end jobs, go to thousands of auditions, and get rejected endlessly before landing a role. Even in sports, talent might be a gift, but no one becomes an elite athlete without grueling training.

If we take Trump’s quote at face value, it almost dismisses personal responsibility. A more balanced way to see it? Luck is the wind, but you're still steering the ship. You don’t control when the wind blows, but you do control whether you hoist the sails or just drift aimlessly.

So, is everything in life luck? Not really. Luck might get you a foot in the door, but it's hustle, strategy, and resilience that keep you in the room.
